Somerset-based haulier C&D South West has been shortlisted for a prestigious industry award in recognition of its business excellence and outstanding response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
C&D is one of five companies in the running for the ‘Business Excellence Award’ category at the Motor Transport Awards 2021, designed to reward business best practice and excellence for companies working in the commercial vehicle and road freight sector.
Others shortlisted in the same category include DPD UK, Expect Distribution, Hermes and Wren Kitchens. The winners will be announced at a glittering awards ceremony to be held at the Grosvenor Hotel in London on September 2, 2021.
For 35 years, the Motor Transport Awards have been seen as a benchmark for excellence among UK road transport fleet operators, vehicle manufacturers, and other innovators.
Judged by more than 50 senior industry figures, the awards are made by knowledgeable industry peers rather than anonymous panels of unknown judges; this makes them so valuable to the winners.
C&D Managing Director, Lorna Hammond, said,
“Being shortlisted for this award is a fantastic achievement and reflects how well we did last year. We’re passionate about the distribution services we provide and it’s great to have our achievements recognised on a national scale.”
“We are a people company, family owned with many long-standing employees, so to be recognised in this way is testament to the talent of our people and our ability to deliver a quality service for our clients. I’d like to thank the entire C&D team for their efforts.”
Judges praised C&D for managing to maintain a strong financial performance throughout the pandemic and using its agility and adaptability to help keep the country moving, while minimising its environmental impact.
C&D was founded in 1987 and has been providing quality distribution to clients for over 30 years. Based in Chard, Somerset, it offers a flexible range of logistics services to every UK postcode every day. Lorna Hammond is the third-generation leader of C&D, following in her father’s and late grandfather’s footsteps.
