The start time of the mass race at the Virgin Money London Marathon 2016 is 10:00 on Sunday 24 April and as usual there will inevitably be disruption to traffic in central London.

Roads being used for the races and the surrounding areas will see closures, restrictions and congestion, and the race organisers have released information to help Londoners get around smoothly on Marathon day.

The first road closures go into effect at 7am and the last until as late as 7pm in places.

Artillery Place, Charlton Park Lane, Charlton Road, Charlton Way, John Wilson Street, Little Heath and Shooters Hill Road are all scheduled to be reopened by midday on Sunday.

Increased capacity on public transport will be in force by the morning of the race and should help ease the pressure on the city’s road network.

Best of Luck to all who are participating in this years race.
