COP 26 Conference Glasgow – Service Levels Update

Dear Valued Customer,

As has been well publicised, Glasgow will be hosting the UN Climate Conference COP26 from 31^st October until 12^th November. We are therefore expecting disruption to our services in Scotland as a result of this.

The disruption will be most pronounced in the city of Glasgow, particularly centred around the Scottish Event Campus (SEC). We also expect surrounding areas – including the M8 motorway and parts of Edinburgh where some of the delegates are staying – to see road closures and disruption, both due to the event itself and the expected presence of up to 50,000 protestors.

After consultation with our Scottish network members the following measures will apply to all consignments through our network manifested from Wednesday 27^th October until Friday 12^th November:

G1-5, 11-14, 20-22, 31-33, 40-44, 51, 52, 72-73

Service changes

D service only, no TA/TB/AM/EB

Postcode

All other G postcodes, PA1-19, KA, ML, EH

Service changes

C service only, no TA/TB

Additionally, we are aware that there may be strikes by public transport workers and other unexpected disruptions – we will update the network throughout the conference period regarding any changes that occur.

COP26 will be unlike any other major event that Glasgow has ever hosted. It will create a unique set of challenges for the travel network. The event is huge and very complicated. It involves around 140 world leaders, some 25,000 delegates and climate activists as well. It’s expected COP26 will have an impact on travel across Central Scotland.

Our members in the affected postcodes will continue to deliver on a daily basis and communicate issues as they arise during this period of disruption.
