Julia Minchin, Founder and Managing Director of Hippychick, a 3 million turnover baby and toddler business based in Bridgwater, Somerset, is always keen to raise the company profile locally.
And that’s why, Julia is excited to reveal that Hippychick has teamed up with Chard-based C & D South West, a third-generation family owned logistics company providing distribution to clients for over 30 years, to brand one of their fleet with Hippychick’s distinctive livery.
The dual-branded SDC Single Deck Trailer was unveiled at Hippychick’s HQ on Robert’s Drive earlier this week, in the presence of four of Hippychick’s key personnel, Bee Wheelybugs one, two, three and four.
Hippychick has been in business in Somerset for 21 years and although having a strong and highly respected national reputation is less well known amongst the local community.
‘The Pandemic has taught us how important community is, which is one of the reasons why we decided to team up with fellow Somerset business, C & D South West. Throughout the pandemic, C & D stepped up to the plate from day one of lockdown, as keyworkers they ensured that our orders were not just delivered, but on time too. We have also made it our business to forge relationships and support many other Somerset businesses and concerns from charities to local schools to food banks.’
It is no coincidence that Julia has chosen to support a business whose Managing Director is also a woman. ‘It continues to be challenging being a woman in business, but I am endlessly in awe of those such as Lorna Hammond, MD of C & D South West who is incredibly successful at what she does, despite having to operate in an almost exclusively male-dominated industry.
Lorna Hammond, Managing Director at C & D South West said: ‘It’s fantastic to have been working with Julia for over five years now and having Hippychick on board and is a great joint marketing opportunity. For us, it is great to be able to align with such a quality brand and to be able to adorn one of our vehicles with such eye-catching livery. For Hippychick, we are confident that our transport will help them to get their message out to the public via Britain’s extensive road network, a new route to market for them but very much our area of expertise.’
